Provided Services

1- Loaning Services

Loaning is one of the most important public services provided by university libraries. It is one of the important indicators of library effectiveness and its relationship with the community. It is also a good standard for measuring the effectiveness of libraries in the provision of services and objective achievement. Therefore, the subsidiary libraries management provides autonomous loaning services within libraries to facilitate the loaning process. Library loaning services include:

a. Internal reading

b. External loaning

c. Renewing loans

d. Reserving books

e. Loaned books follow-up and tracking

f. Mutual loaning

2- Reference Services

Reference services in subsidiary libraries are pided into two main sections:

a. Direct reference services, which include answering reference questions posed by beneficiaries, guiding and directing them within the library, and educating and training them on the use of different references.

b. Indirect reference services, which include selection of appropriate references and making them available for the department, arrangement of references on shelves and returning them to the right location, and reviewing the available references and reference service provided.

3. Current Awareness Services

These services involve reviewing newly available documents and various resources in libraries and information centers, selection of materials relevant to the needs of beneficiaries, and recording these materials in order to inform beneficiaries of their availability at the library.

Selective dissemination of information is the most important current awareness service. It aims to keep the beneficiaries aware of recent developments and achievements in their specializations and thematic interests determined and amended by the beneficiary from time to time. The most important feature of the selective dissemination of information and current awareness service is the need to use the computer for submission.

4. Online Search Services

It is a system to retrieve information immediately and directly through the computer and terminals, which provides researchers with machine-readable information stored on information systems, databanks and databases.

5. Photocopying Service

This is one of the basic and essential services provided in libraries. This service preserves and reduces the theft and damage of library materials. The subsidiary library management has provided auto-photocopying machines inside the subsidiary libraries to facilitate photocopying.

6. Beneficiary Training Services

This service involves training the beneficiaries on how to use the different sources and services provided by these libraries. The Deanship for Library Affairs dedicates considerable attention to this service.
