What is a standardized patient?
A standardized patient is a healthy Person who was carefully recruited and trained to take on the characteristics of a real Patient, thereby allowing the student to learn Diagnostic techniques, history taking, and physical assessment. Moreover, to be evaluated on learned skills in a Simulated Clinical Environment.
Studies have proven that utilizing Standardized patients has led to increased learning outcomes and the quality of care.
The SP role can be included in:
1. History Taking.
2. Physical Examination.
3. Advanced Physical Examination.
