Google Scholar Profile is a free web-based platform assembling world researcher's publications, citations and personal details and make it available to others. This is an excellent way of showcasing your research accomplishments and promoting the university. They can also help you to create national and international networks of researchers who are working in your field.
In addition, the profiles are used as an indicator in global rankings so your profile might help our university achieve world class status.
These are the steps to start a profile:
Step 1. You will need a Google Account. If you already have a Google Account go to Step 3. To open an account go to: Create your Google Account
Step 2. Follow the instructions and choose a user name and password. You will need a phone to verify your new account. You can use an existing email address as a username. Otherwise your user name will be a gmail account.
Step 3. Go to Google Scholar Citations
Step 4.Click on sign in in the top right hand corner. Then sign in using your Google Account user name and password.
Step 5.Follow instructions to create a profile. Click on my profile in the top left journal and entire your university email for verification. Google will not accept commercial email addresses. Make sure to add your University name (brand name as in university logo).
Step 6. Choose publications to add to your profile. Google Scholar will make suggestions.
Step 7. From time to time Google Scholar will contact your email to inform you of new publications that might be in your name.
