Brief About Department
​​​​In light of the technological development that the world is witnessing in general, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular, PNU assumed a leading role in keeping abreast with this development and positively participates in the preparation of qualified academic cadres in the field of information systems. 
All the specialization courses in the program are taught in English. The department includes a number of faculty members who are both experienced and efficient; a matter that contributes to the achievement of the department’s vision and set objectives. 

The department offers:
1. Information Systems Program.
2. Data Science and Analytics Program.

​​Language of Instruction:
Students will study all the specialized courses in English, while the rest of the courses will be taught in both Arabic and English.
 
Student Outcomes (These outcomes are listed below as):
(a) An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the program’s student outcomes and to the discipline
(b) An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution
(c) An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs
(d) An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal
(e) An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities
(f) An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
(g) An ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society
(h) Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continuing professional development
(i) An ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.
(j)   An understanding of and an ability to support the use, delivery, and management of information systems within an Information Systems environment.

Note: The first nine ABET student outcomes (a-i) are identical to all computing programs, while the last student outcome j is specifically for the Information Systems program as required by its Program Criteria.​
