Units of The Vice Deanship


Dental Research Centre:

Objectives:

1.     The preparation of reports, manuals and policies.

2.     The preparation of a strategic operational plan of the center.

3.     Supervision of the implementation of programs approved by the Vice Deanship of Scientific Research.

4.     Build research partnerships at the national, regional and global levels to create a culture of achievement on a high level.

5.     Promoting shared responsibility, ethical conduct and the commitment to the standards of conducting research.

6.     Enhancing the abilities of researchers to get research grants and to be able to manage it.

7.     Effective investment in the promising research project and building human capabilities.   

8.     Commitment to establish the infrastructure to facilitate the management of operations, provide integrated research services raised to the highest standards of quality and transparency.

9.     Raising awareness of the value of research at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

10.  Developing the relationship between sponsors and financiers.

11.  The enhancement of research capacity and human capital in the global research community.

12.  Infrastructure support for interdisciplinary research.

13.  Enhancing the movement of scientific publishing through research partnerships.

14.  Research capacity-building: human and non-human in dental research to qualify second-tier  researchers in dentistry.

15.  Design programs aimed at enabling faculty members and others to carry out research and studies in order to enhance the research movement in the university.        

16.  Supervise the design and implementation of research support programs in partnerships with the private sector.

17.  Organize scientific meeting, training courses and workshops aimed at raising the knowledge of researchers.

18.  Follow up the research movement in the faculty and make an inventory of the research output.

19.  Supervising the conduct of research carried out by Ethics Committee.

20.  Governance of research activity in the faculty.

21.  Preparation of the databases to monitor research activity.

22.  Evaluate the research movement and its associated activities and prepare the evaluation plans.

23.  Develop continuous education programs for researchers, recent graduates and student, as appropriate.

24.  Oversight the establishment of research chairs and research center of excellence, in accordance with the strategic plan and available resources.

 

Postgraduate Unit:

Objectives:

1.     Recommending general policy for external and internal scholarships and presenting it to the relevant committees.

2.     Define the actions needed for a scholarship in coordination with the university administration.

3.     Determine the annual plan to scholarships for teaching assistants and lecturers after coordination with the relevant authorities at Princess Norah University.

4.     To consider the recommendation of the Council of the Faculty of Dentistry for scholarships and to coordinate the implementation of these recommendations in the annual plan for scholarships.

5.     Helping the teaching assistants and lecturers in the Faculty of Dentistry to continue their higher education in the world's leading universities.

6.     Follow-up the scholarship applications for the lecturers and teaching assistants of the Faculty of Dentistry.

7.     Completion of requests for internal and external scholarships such as (extension, upgrading the scholarship, changing the university, changing the major, etc.) and work for this in coordination with the Department of Training and Scholarship at the University.

8.     Communicate with the Department of Training and Scholarships regarding the grants for study abroad.

9.     The appointment of academic supervisors for all external and internal scholarship holders.

10.  Organizing and archiving the files of scholarship students who finish their study inside and outside the Kingdom, and identify deficiencies in the files and keep updating them weekly.

11.  Updating the forms of scholarships according to the updated university website and make sure that these forms are specifically required from the Department of Training and Scholarships at the University in order to terminate the scholarships procedures. 

12.  Supervising the Graduate Studies Committee which is responsible for the Master of Science in Dental Research Program.

13.  Supervising the permanent scholarship and training committee which is responsible for the requests of the internal scholarship.

14.  Monitoring the requests for internal scholarships provided by self-employment employees by presenting them to the competent committee, and follow-up scholarship students during the period of their studies. 

15.  The attraction of the outstanding   scholarship students requesting them to join the faculty members of the collage at PNU.

16.  Provide postgraduate programs to meet the demands of the labor market, and improve the level of these programs to cope with the international distinctive programs.

17.  Find prestigious educational institutions to supervise the postgraduate programs academically to keep pace of the rapid progress of the science and technology in the leading international universities in the field of dentistry.

18.  Supervising the entrance examinations in postgraduate programs for new applicants.

19.  The coordination with the departments regarding postgraduate requests.

20.  Planning and organizing everything to facilitate the work of the unit.

21.  Follow up the periodic reports of the master's and doctoral theses for postgraduate 

students and submit them to the Agency.​

Library and Learning Resources Unit

Objectives:

1.     Supervising the technical works of the library (such as: index, classification, shelving, ordering books and guiding readers).

2.     Managing the library through planning, arranging and reporting.

3.     Supervising the circulation of lending and retrieving books.

4.     Listing the requirements of the information resources and submit them to the deanship of library affairs to provide them to the library.

5.     Making a monthly statistic of the number of borrowers and students who visit the library. Then, sending them to the deanship of library affairs.

6.     Submitting biannual report for the unit's activities.

7.     Arranging the lending process by allowing and specifying time for it.

8.     Helping students and faculty members when choosing the information resources and how to access them.

9.     Making an annual inventory to the library and reporting for the annual requirement.

10.  Arranging the contents of the learning resources lab.

11.  Making visits schedules for the beneficiaries of the lab.

12.  Allowing the lending service.

13.  Maintenance the lab's devices.
