Units of The Vice Deanship

Registration and Schedules Unit

Objectives:

1.    Supervision and follow-up on all matters of registration of courses, electronic courses and initial registration.

2.    Presentation of the Deanship's view regarding the plans developed by the College and updating them according to the academic system after its approval.

3.    Taking all necessary academic measures for the college students in accordance with the regulations and rules governing university study.

4.    Linking the academic supervisors with the students and following up with the academic advising unit on the reports and individual performance.

5.    Receive, implement and register of requests for postponement and transfer from one specialization to another and applications for re-enrollment and withdrawal from the semester of the students.

6.    Preparing periodic reports and statistics for the students of the college for each semester of the Cognos system.

7.    Linking faculty members with courses and extracting reference numbers.

8.    Updating and sending the number of applicants to the course and sending them to the concerned department.

9.    Implementing and supervising the equation of the applications of candidate students for transferring to the Faculty of Dentistry with academic departments.

 

Academic Advising Unit

The primary purpose of Academic Advising is assisting the student in completing the academic program successfully as well as remediate any problems the student might face.

Objectives:

1.    Prepare new students to learn about University life.

2.   Help students face academic problems.

3.   Introduce students to academic programs.

4.   Cultivate students' understanding of academic rules and regulations.

5.   Follow up academic performance of students and help those who are struggling.

6.   Follow up students who excel and provide them with skills that raise their level of achievement.

7.   Build social and positive relationships between students and faculty members.

8.   Follow up the registration unit for student's schedules and following up their academic performance.

9.   Prepare periodic reports and statistics for students each semester.


Joined Courses Unit

1.    Coordinating work between academic departments and exchanging successful experiences.

2.    Following up the implementation of joined academic courses according to professional standards and academic accreditation standards.

3.    Proposing, implementing, and following up on the actions and initiatives that are envisaged for the development of the academic process.

4.    Coordinating joined courses.

5.    Following up the implementation of teaching the joint courses according to professional standards and the standardization of academic accreditation.

6.    Following up the implementation of the academic decisions of the units of the deanship.

 

Assessment Unit

Objectives:

1.  Periodically review the new questions for approval and analysis, and create questions' bank.

2.  Set the policy for assessment procedures like blueprint construction, course directors' responsibility to provide the contributors with PLO and CLO for the course, and verification for the appropriateness of question construction.


Student Labs Unit

Objectives:

1.  Supervising the work of the student labs.

2.  Following up the needs of the student labs of materials, equipment, and supplies in coordination with the warehouses and supervising the supply and installation them.

3.  Providing the necessary requirements for pre-clinical courses and ensuring that the educational environment in the laboratories is appropriate.

4. Supervising the reports of the standards of the devices and determining the need of the laboratories of maintenance and restoration and following up their implementation.

5.  Preparing an annual reports to the Vice Deanship of Academic Affair on the progress of the laboratories.

6.  Assisting the deanship in planning and organizing everything that will facilitate the work of the labs.

7.  Defining the tasks of technicians and assistants according to their specialty.

8.  Developing appropriate mechanisms for the delivery and receipt of instruments to students.


E-Learning Unit

Objectives:

1.    Developing plans for e-learning at the college and following up on their implementation.

2.    Working on upgrading the readiness of the e-learning unit to provide the necessary support to faculty members.

3.    Providing consultation to faculty members in the best practice and correct practices in e-learning.

4.    Spreading the culture of e-learning between faculty members and students.

5.    Encouraging e-learning practices.

6.    Coordinating with the Deanship regarding the training needs in the field of e-learning.

7.    Continuous communication and attendance at periodic meetings.

8.    Supporting faculty members regarding the learning management system and support systems.

9.    Dealing with the problems of the network and making recommendations to improve the information technology system at the college.

10.  Following up and reporting on e-learning practices.

11.  Receiving suggestions from faculty members.

12.  Working as a liaison between the College and the Deanship in communication with the technical support of the Deanship of e-learning to solve all the problems facing faculty member in the college

13.  Continuous follow-up of faculty members to download educational content on the Blackboard system.

14.  Preparing the periodic reports and statistics for each semester.

 

Dental Education Unit

Objectives

1.   Preparing the strategic plans for the activities of the unit and supervising and following up its implementation.

2.   Identifying the training and program needed to develop skills in the college and supporting the participation of faculty members.

3.   Preparing the feasibility study and determining the training budget whether internal or external.

4.   Spreading the culture of continuous improvement and development to achieve the ideal in overall performance.

5.   Encouraging faculty members to participate in the courses, training programs, and workshops offered by the Deanship of Development and Skills Development.

6.   Encouraging creative work and professional achievement for faculty members to achieve academic and administrative excellence.

7.   Drawing up the future strategies necessary to raise the skills of faculty members to achieve excellence and creativity in teaching and learning.

8.   Organizing the necessary lectures and workshops in the College in coordination with academic departments.

9.   Developing the skills of the faculty members and their abilities and raising professional competence.
