The French language program is centered around two main axes: developing students' linguistic proficiency skills in the French language and providing them with translation strategies and tactics from French to Arabic and vice versa. The French program at the College of Languages offers a core course in the Introduction to the French Language, which aims to equip students with the fundamental skills of the French language that will result in improving their speech and writing skills. The focus of the courses is to gradually build knowledge and skills in which students acquire oral skills, reading, writing, and grammar, in addition to increasing their knowledge about the French culture and literature over the first four levels. During level four, students study translation rules, acquire skills in the translation field, as well as understanding the strategies and tactics of the translation and applying their knowledge on different types of texts.
Program specialization requirements consist of 85 required credit hours for graduation in the major of French language Translation.
