Rector of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Dr. Huda bint Mohammed Al-Ameel, activities of 2011 summer talent program at the university were concluded last Wednesday, which was organized in collaboration with King Abdul-Aziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity with a ceremony in which sponsors and members of the program were honored. A number of university vice-rectors and community ladies have attended the ceremony, as the event included accompanying exhibition such as the four tracks in which students studied for 21 days, where a number of projects and innovations amounted to 22 innovations were made including the following creative ideas: 1. (My knowledge lighted my room) by Student: Tala Al-Saleem, which is a design for entrance to a room lights up when entering and turn off when leaving. 2. (Rotating Table) by student: Dima Al-Luhaidan, Nadeed Al-Tuwaijri, which is a dining table composed of two pieces, one for the dishes and the other for the menu so that the menu table rotates when the button is pressed. 3. (The solution is the secret key to the prize) by Student: Dima Al-Luhaidan, which is an educational device in stages in a fun way when you get the solution and enter it, you get your prize immediately. 4. (Reveal water level in your tank) by student: Tala Al-Saleem, a device that alerts the person when water level in the tank is low. 5. (Electric Sled) by Student: Renad Al-Zahrani & Rima Al-Luhaidan, which is a sled on running wheels that can be controlled remotely (with remote control). 6. (Alarm Door Handle) by Student: Renad Al-Zahrani, which is an alarm that operates upon touching the door handle. 7. (Safe oven button) by student: Munira Al-Ali, which is a secret button to provide safe open for the oven to protect children. 8. (Electric ladder and snake game) by student: Munira Al-Ali, which is a well-known entertainment game that is converted into an electric model. 9. (Safe Scalpel) by student: Al-Hanouf Al-Saadan, which is a scalpel, conceals the sharp end when left. 10. (Heater) by student: Al-Hanouf Al-Saadan, which is a heater designed in a mechanical way making it impossible to be overturned and touch the ground. 11. (Library Chair) by student: Munira Al-Ali & Alhanouf Al-Saadan, which is a cart to transport books and arrange them on the shelves of libraries in a wonderful way. 12. (A device prevents ice melting once again) prepared by student: Rawa Aljaloud, which is a device that works to detect power interruption in the freezer. 13. (Rapid death) by Student: Rawa Al-Jalloud and Shuja Basudan, which is a rope design to hang in an electric way. 14. (Serene Night) by Student: Shuja Basudan and Latifa Al-Enzi, which is a pillow that works to turn off the lights once you sleep on them. 15. (Breathe your feelings) by Student: Latifa Al-Enzi, which is a pen that begins to spray perfume when writing. 16. (An alarm bell for the deaf) by student: Manal Al-Harthy, which is a light device that alerts the deaf to presence of people at the door of the house. 17. (Measuring number of burned calories) by student: Manal Al-Harthy. 18. (I'll show you the world for people with special needs of the blind) by student: Nora Al-Khulawi, which is a stick containing an ultrasonic sensor that rings when approaching a barrier or a wall. 19. (Light Guide) by student: Nora Al-Khulawi, which is a device that instructs the buyer in the supermarket about locations of supermarket sections. 20. (Your child is safe) by student: Lama bin Jadid, which is a stroller that rings when the child is carried out of the cart in order to protect him/her from abduction. 21. (Detector of thieves) by student: Lin bin Kedsa, which is a pressure device at the door of the house, which releases a sound when touched. 22. (Shoot and count) by student: Lynn bin Kedsa, which is a shooting game that emits light and calculates number of shootings. In course of computer, students translated a number of audio books for the blind, eight books, which are as follows: 1. Selected children's stories from world literature produced by the two talented figures: Atheer Al-Fawzan, and Lujain Al-Manaa. 2. Pamphlet of morning and evening remembrance produced by the two gifted Yasmin Al-Hizan, Haifa Al-Blaihed. 3. Handbook of quotations for Sheikh Dr. Sulaiman Al-Awda produced by the two gifted: Lamis Al-Suhaibani, Hanouf Al-Obeishi, Tahani Al-Otaibi 4. My Girls Book by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Awda, produced by the two gifted Raghad Al-Saif, Shahd Al-Harbi. 5. Handbook entitled “Listen, Enjoy and Cook” A selection of famous cooking methods produced by the two gifted: Nourah Al-Babtain, Razan Al-Fuhaid. 6. “Open the window, there is a light” by the author Dr. Khalid Al-Munif produced by the two gifted: Reem Al-Arfaj, Nourah Al-Mahmoud. 7. “How did they become great” by the author Dr. Saad Al-Kraibani, produced by the two gifted Fadwa Al-Ghamdi, Hind Al-Zahrani. 8. The Book of Sins Expiating by Ahmad Al-Suwayyan produced by the two gifted: Najoud Al-Madi & Najoud Al-Nasser. In the course of scientific research, the students laid the first building blocks for the first scientific innovation to treat contamination of children's places and completed nearly three scientific studies, which are as follows: 1. A study on microbes that exist on the escalators’ belt in major commercial complexes in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 2. Detection of microbes in the refrigerators of major commercial markets in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia. 3. Microbial identification of bacteria in indoor playgrounds for children aged 1-4 years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The students in the course of scientific research have also written a book addressed to the child, called (Young Researcher) provides a simple and easy explanation for children to learn about scientific research, and how to write it with illustrative pictures. Educate and help the mother on how to raise the child. 2. Provide training to the child on the necessary skills before joining primary school. 3. Provide theoretical and practical opportunities to support a long-term relationship with their children based on a pre-school educational curriculum. Period of training: The training extends for twenty-five weeks, one day per week, starting from 22/01/1433 AH (17/12/2011 AD) until Wednesday, 16/06/1433 AH corresponding to (06/06/2011 AD). Training Venue: • Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education) • Day Care Center (Malaz - Officers District). • Social Development Center in Dir'iya. • Al-Manahil Kindergarten, Al-Nazim District. • Takatof Center for Family Development (Exit 16). • Tawafuq Center (Zohrat Al-Badia). • Girl's house in Al-Faisaliah (Al-Ghala). • Al-Faisaliah Kindergarten. Targeted categories: • Governmental employees and civil society organizations. • Mothers of children aged 3-6 years. • Female volunteers to work in the program according to certain controls. Therefore, the university invites all targeted categories to enroll in the program, bearing in mind that the program is free and provides transportation allowance for mothers.
