Academic Advising

The primary purpose of Academic Advising is assisting the student in completing the academic program successfully as well as remediate any problems the student might face.

Academic Affairs assigns academic advisors at the beginning of each academic year for each year. Their role is to follow up students academically and to coordinate between course directors and academic affairs to resolve academic issues and deal with the underachieving students and provide them necessary help to improve their performance. Also, Academic Affairs has set the Underachieving Students Committee in which struggling students are monitored for their performance and given advice regarding their schedules.

 

Academic Advising Unit Tasks:

• Prepare new students to learn about University life.

• Help students face academic problems.

• Introduce students to academic programs.

• Cultivate students' understanding of academic rules and regulations.

• Follow up academic performance of students and help those who are struggling or facing academic difficulty.

•  Follow up students who excel and provide them with skills that raise their level of achievement.

• Build social and positive relationships between students and faculty members.

• Follow up the registration unit for student's schedules and following up their academic performance.

• Prepare periodic reports and statistics for students each semester.
