About the College

​The College of Social Work was established in 1394 AH under the name of the Higher Institute of Social Work for Girls in Riyadh in accordance with the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. (1993 M), dated 04/12/1394 AH, and it was affiliated to the General Presidency for Girls' Education.

 

The Higher Institute of Social Work was inaugurated at the beginning of the academic year 1395/1396 AH, in which (41) students have enrolled upon its inauguration. While the number of students enrolled in it was (43) students. The first batch of the bachelor's degree graduates was at the end of the academic year 1398/1399 AH, and the number of faculty members at that time was (30) contracting members. Then, in the academic year 1411/1412 AH, the name of the Higher Institute of Social Work was changed to College of Social Work as per the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. (143). However, in 1425 AH, it was annexed to Ministry of Higher Education, then to Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (formerly Riyadh University for Girls) in accordance with the Royal Decree No. 3139/MB, dated 18/04/1417 AH. Accordingly, the number of faculty members has increased to be (54) of Saudi nationality, (12) contracting members, and (105) administrative body staff. However, the number of students registered in the College in 1440/1441 AH reached (3831) approximately.

Mission:

Provide educational programs in social work to achieve scientific, research and societal excellence.

Objectives:

1.    Provide student with the theoretical knowledge and professional skills to practice social work in accordance with the needs of society.

2.    Develop courses in proportion with local and international societal variables.

3.    Take advantage of social research to serve community issues.

4.    Develop professional and functional performance of colleges’ employees.

5.    Hold Partnerships with societal institutions in areas of consultation, teaching and voluntary work.

6.    Expand postgraduate programs in light of the recent developments.​
