In light of the growing interest of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in female national symbols that contributed to the march of Saudi Arabia and its construction, the University announced a documented scientific study project on the sister of the founder of the Kingdom, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman. It is worth noting that this study stems from the keenness of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University to monitor the history of prominent Saudi women and due to the fact that Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman is one of those prominent figures for her outstanding roles in field of women empowerment according to requirements of her era i.e., the time of unification of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, which requires informing the contemporary generations of her biography that makes difference in history of the Arab women.
In view of this, Dr. Dalal bint Mukhaled Al-Harbi, Professor of modern and contemporary history at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and researcher specialized in history of women in the Kingdom and the Arabian Peninsula, and the winner of King Abdulaziz Award in history of the Kingdom, has been entrusted to conduct the research paper.
According to the introductory part of Dr. Dalal's project, the study will focus on the use of local and foreign documents as well as oral statements and following all publications in books and references. Then, drawing up the biography of the princess according to a scientific model that tracks the stages of her life and shows her role and status, as well as extending thanks to Rector of the University Prof. Einas bint Suleiman Al-Eisa for her support and keenness to accomplish the study.
Al-Harbi pointed out that objectives of the study are to identify the circumstances that formed the character of Princess Nourah, the roles she played at the outset and after formation of the Kingdom. In addition to identifying the view of King Abdulaziz towards women represented in his sister and the status of Princess Nourah in the society she used to live.
