Units of The Vice Deanship

Training and Internship Unit:

Objectives:

1.  Promote and support dental faculty, staff, students, and interns' development and organizational effectiveness by providing high-quality dental education and health care training programs. 

2. Provide quality, cost-effective training designed to dental education that integrates science, technology, patient needs, and lifelong learning in a world-class environment

3.  Provide development opportunities to dental faculty and staff that enhance knowledge, develop skills, and enrich the organization.

 

Nursing Unit:

Maintains program excellence and manage the daily operations, functions and performance of the Dental Assistants, X-ray, and CSSD Technicians to provide high-quality standards of education and services to our dental students in the clinics, to ensure patient quality outcomes, as well as efficient and safe processes within the framework of existing policies, procedures, regulatory requirements of the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards.

Objectives:

1.  Assists the clinicians and students during a variety of dental clinical treatment procedures.

2. Ensures the proper operation of dental equipment, by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.

3.  Ensures that the assigned dental treatment cubicle/room is clean and orderly.

4.  Takes X-Ray of patients as directed by the clinicians and students with utmost care in radiation safety and exposure.

5. Ensures that sterilization methods and controls are sufficient and ongoing to ensure that the stock and supply of sterile devices meets the clinical's needs and effectively prevents the spread of infection.

6. Oversees the safe and efficient decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of all reprocessed instrumentation and equipment, developing and maintaining processes and records involved in the transfer of such items for reprocessing.

7.  Ensures infection control and safety practices and protocol in the clinic, in the utilization and cleaning of instruments and supplies in accordance with the College of Dentistry policies.


 Clinical Supply Unit:

Clinical Supply Unit maintains the financial health of the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) College of Dentistry by procuring, storing and allocating of materials/equipment and services that meet operational needs while providing the highest value and adhering to the standards of the Joint Commission International (JCI).

Objectives:

1.   Coordinates the purchase and allocation of materials and services for all functions of the Dental College.

2.   Provides value-added services to the Dental College by constantly striving to find new and better products, sources of supply, and better ways of meeting the needs of the using departments.

3.   Manages stock and ensure the smooth flow of materials in the clinic by determining what, how much, and when to order stock.

4.   Monitors the physical flow of materials within the system, such as receipts, storage, and issues.

5.   Storing and arranging of stocks in orderly system.

6.   Supports a collaborative relationship and communicate with clinicians, ancillary staff and students to ensure conformity, effective workflow and prioritization in the procuring and allocation of materials. 


Patient's Affair Unit:

Promote and ensure patient satisfaction at all times and guarantee that the patient's treatment at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) College of Dentistry is the very best by following a patient-centered care approach while maintaining service excellence and manage patient concerns and assure that all of their expectations are met.

Objectives:

1.     Coordinate and organize appointments of all patients and maintain their records to facilitate the efficient running of dental clinic.

2.     Serves as the link between patients, families, and the Dental College to solve problems and act as mediators when treatment and care is involved.

3.     Coordination with other departments in providing best care to the patients.


Production Lab Unit:

Production Lab Unit works directly with clinicians and students by following detailed written instructions and to perform dental laboratory procedures utilizing precautions and infection control procedures as established by Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) College of Dentistry and adhering to the standards of the Joint Commission International (JCI). 

Objectives:

1.  Prepares model preparation from pouring impressions through pinning dyes.

2.  Fabricates custom trays, bite blocks and baseplates.

3.  Produces dental laboratory procedures according to the guidelines and criteria established in the given specialty i.e. Orthodontics, Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics (full and partial), Esthetic Ceramic Restorations, etc.

4.  Supports a collaborative relationship and communicate with clinicians, ancillary staff and students to ensure conformity, effective workflow and prioritization in the production of quality dental prostheses and appliances.

 

Health & Safety Unit:

Ensure overall compliance with applicable environmental and health and safety laws and regulations; monitoring the effectiveness of the safety programs; and providing central health and safety services and support to all areas of the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) College of Dentistry. 

Objectives:

1.     Promote occupational and personal safety, health, and wellness.

2.     Protect the health and safety of Dental College faculty, staff, and students.

3.     Provide information to faculty, staff, and students about health and safety hazards.

4.     Identify and correct health and safety hazards and encourage faculty, staff, and students to report potential hazards.

5.     Maintain a risk-based emergency management program to reduce the impact of emergency events to the Dental College.


Biomedical Engineering Unit:

The Biomedical Engineering Unit applies engineering, technical and managerial expertise to provide safe, effective economical services and equipment as needed by the dental clinic for patient care. 

Objectives:

1. To ensure electrically safe and functional equipment for patients, visitors, and dental clinic staff through a program of continuing inspection, testing, and repairs of patient care equipment, regardless of ownership, and assistance with Inservice training.

2. To act as a resource in selecting new patient care equipment and fulfilling manufacturers' recalls as needed.

3. To ensure the smooth running of the department functions, thus supporting the dental clinic goals.

4. Responsible for managing and maintaining clinical equipment within PNUCD.​​
